We humans only want to see the good things in the Bible, good, kind God who has promised us redemption, but that’s where we stop. We don’t hear the rest of the message. We don’t want to face the fact that we may have to take some responsibility in all of this and the stories in the Bible are examples of people who have taken responsibility along with the consequences for those who haven’t. I would give the Bible a five star rating, because more than any other self help book out there, more than any other do it yourself guru, God and HIs word provide all the answers. The one big difference though is it’s not wrapped up with a big pretty bow, instead you get all the guts and gore along with the triumph and pretty things. God gives it to you straight and challenges you to be a better person with Him as your guide.
