The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)
Children present many challenges for their parents. Some days they can be the most wonderful, well-behaved children, doing everything an adult tells them, following a suggested path willingly, like the little angels we all dream of. Other day’s adults may face an unruly, disobedient child that refuses to do anything or follow a path willingly. A little devil seems to have taken the place of the angel.
Our journey to God is much like that of a child. Some days we do what is right; we make the correct choices and willingly sacrifice ourselves to God. Other days in other situations, we act like the petulant child, demanding our own way and behaving in a manner not pleasing to God.
When a child behaves and acts in the expected way, we rejoice, we celebrate. Then the child misbehaves we can become impatient and irritated. We don’t celebrate.
God differs from parents in this respect. Yes, He celebrates when we follow Him. However when we don’t follow, He patiently waits for us to find our way back to Him.
When a child encounters something that hinders her activities, instead of stopping, complaining not completing the activity, she finds a way to work with the obstacle. The hindrance becomes part of the solution. They creatively use the obstacle to celebrate the accomplishment.

God wants us to be like the children. He knows that with His guidance we can approach and overcome any obstacle placed before us. He wants us to celebrate the obstacle, because we acknowledge Him as the pattern of our lives. Embrace and celebrate each of the stones that build the bridge to God and eternal life.
Lord Jesus in your most gracious and awesome wisdom help me to respond as a child to embrace and celebrate the obstacles in my life. For it is in embracing and celebrating the obstacles that I truly find you. This I pray through Jesus your most wonderful Son.
