I know I haven’t updated you in a couple of days but I kind of hit brick wall and my mind had turned to mush. I needed a break, so Monday became my day off. Other than the blog posts I did no writing.
Then Tuesday comes along, I feel compelled to write, but still suffering from mush mind, so the writing doesn’t come until Tuesday night. I go to a write-in and all I focus on is writing the novel. My word count going in is 30,000 words. We do a couple of writing challenges, I have a couple of ah ha moments and by the end of the evening I am at 33,345 words. Now I have obliterated mush mind and am ready to tackle the remaining 20000 words.
So now that you know where I am, I also wanted to answer some questions from writers who wonder about the crazinewss of this month. One of the members of my critique group asked these questions and I’m sure that they have occured to many of you.
1. Does what you have written make any sense?
To answer that I will give you an excerpt of what I have written. In it you will see that it does:
Joachim and Brandan rode their horses through Wyrzburg leading the porcession that would lead to the final resting place for Theodric. Bhind them was the funeral carriage bearing the body of theodric that they recently brought back of from the cave of njori. Tfheodric had lost his life in the battle with waldrom and they were finally able to put it in the royal cemetary. Behind him were rupert and croifan theodrics personal guard and finally the citizens of crato that had traveled to the city for the funeral of their beloved king. it was a day of mixed emotions for though they had lost their king, two brand new kings were in place to replace him as well as waldrom, who had disappeared after the last battle.
trupomets blared as the procession snaked through the scity. Soon the countries of crato and mahorg would be reunited ounder the falg of Irinaeus family. It had been a long hard battle to reach this point and the citizens were ready to put the past and waldrom’s cruelties behind them.
The trumpets blared a second time as they reached the royal cemetary. wisdoms that had caccompanied the coffin entered the royal masoleum. Kings fro of the past lay within the hallowed halls and theodric was about to join them. The clousd parted and the honor guard lifted the casket and carried it into hte building. Brandan and Joachim followed behind and dropped to one knee as the casket was put into it’s designated spot. The wisdoms intoned prayers ‘Blessed Asha, we bequeth the sould of your beloved servent into your loving hands. Hold him close and save him for a time wehn he can be reunited with his family still remaining, Beloved, bless those that remain Heal the wounds done by the war and seperation suffered byi them. Watch over them and protedct them as Theodric has done. so that thwehn their time comes that they may be rejoined with fyyou and your servant theodric. May you rest in peace thoedric as you go home to Asha and may. Amen.
once again the trumpets blared, Brandan and Joachim stood, and walked into the masoleum. They each place d a whiet rose on the ground in front of the wall bearilng the caskets and each knelt down and kisssed the wall inf front of them. after they arose and walked out followed by the wisdoms and finally the honor guard. Behind them the iron barred gate.
Behind them the iron barred gate slammed shut. Joachim jumped, Wrandan stared straight ahead iand walked toward the horses. Joachim knelt on the imarble step in front of the gate. Tears pooled at his knees as he reached throught the bars grasping at some invisible specttre. The villagers just looked at him and shook their heads as they walked away from the masoleum.
Joachim stood but his wobbley legs refused to hold lhim and he sat on the marble half wall beside the path leacing to the masoleum. Rupert glanced back and saw the young mans sorrow, so he walked back and gknelt in front of Joa. Reaching out his hand he upt his index finger under Joa’s chin and gently raised his head to look in the prinecs eyes. “Joa, if feel as you do. You father was very special to me. His loss will be suffered

Now you have to look beyond the misspellsing and other grammar errors as my editor has been locked up for the last month.
2. How many words will you lose to tighten?
Last year I went from 50000 down to 30000, but part of the reason for that was that I was writing for middle grade and 50000 words is a few too many for those kids. Another part was using contractions. This year I can’t predict the loss or gain because I already know the story will take more than 50000 words to tell the story
3. What will happen when you finish?
For me the plan is to edit and eventually publish. I know some of the other writers have the same plan.
So I hope that helps you with some of your questions. Now back to my novel and I will check back in when the brain allows.
God Bless and Keep Writing
