Day 8 NanoWrimo 12:02 p.m.

First I’ll bring you up to speed about the weekend. As you can see I didn’t post on the sixth and the seventh.  By Friday night  I had over 12000 words so I felt pretty secure in not writing for a couple of days and not worrying about getting way behind. Saturday I spent most of the day cleaning up my office and getting all of the little kid stuff removed. I’ve decided that although sharing an office with my nine year old is a nice idea in theory, when put into actual practice it is a whole other ball of wax. Instead of actually using the office to work in it became more of a storage space for all her papers and believe me a nine year old can collect quite a few pieces of paper along with all her other stuff. Any way long story short my office had become a place where I really didn’t want to work. Hence eradicating all evidence of a nine year old and her seven year old neice.

Saturday evening, my book signing, not a previous NANO project but a close relative. Anyway after what I  consider a successful book signing, I get hubby to take the girls and I out to dinner, then we come home and watch a movie after the girls go to bed.

Sunday, church and donuts and socializing after church. Then I do a little grocery shopping and then home to regroup. Take the girls to choir and Christmas pageant practice, then I am in a nearly empty house, suffering from writers withdrawal. I haven’t written one word since Friday. I want to write, but nothing in my novel is looking very appealing. A very dear friend texts me, wants to do a word war.

That proves to be just the motivation I need. It’s an easy one, 1000 words in 30 minutes. I look at my outline (which I have concluded is more of a hinderance than a help but more about that later.) I pick a random chapter and begin writing.

It will be all I write on Sunday, but it has served to get me out of withdrawal and back into my novel. Today I am 1000 words ahead of where I expected to be at this point and plan on going to a write in this afternoon for a short while to start the word count rolling beyond my assigned stops. My goal for the end of today is 14000. My hope is that with the write in I will reach 14500 or even 15000.

So now you are up to date on my mad journey. How are you doing? Stevie the sock monkey and Myrria the dragon are watching and rooting for you.

Now I’m off to make some crock pot chili so the family can have dinner in my absence.
